Mary Ann Plumlee started her business in 1985 as a home based retail workroom. Over the years, her business grew to include 2 locations, and 12 employees. In addition to her workroom business, in 2007 she founded Workroom Association of America LLC,  a trade association specifically for workrooms by workrooms. WAOA has grown from 10 members in 2007 to almost 700 members in 3 short years.

Mary Ann wrote for the workroom industry for Drapery and Window Coverings Magazine for several years. She is a popular speaker and gives seminars on sales and workroom topics across the nation.

In January 2010, Mary Ann formed Window Coverings News online magazine. WCN Magazine is a free subscription bi-monthly publication for the entire window coverings industry.
